Marsha Rana Wayman, interim executive director for Phelps Health Foundation, was awarded the Elizabeth Luna Mourning Fund to attend the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) Institute for Healthcare Philanthropy (Madison Institute) July 14-19 in Madison, Wisconsin. The Madison Institute is sponsored by AHP in cooperation with the University of Wisconsin’s Graduate School of Business.
The Elizabeth Luna Mourning Endowment Fund was established in 2007 by Stephen L. Mourning, FAHP in memory of his wife Elizabeth Luna Mourning. This fund provides one scholarship to a member of AHP who is new to the health care profession to attend the AHP Institute for Healthcare Philanthropy (Madison Institute).
Marsha is one of only a handful of other recipients in the nation to receive one of the prestigious endowment funds, awarded by the AHP Foundation Board of Trustees. “I’m honored to have received this award and to have this opportunity,” says Wayman. “I have selected the Planned Giving track for my certification and look forward to learning about working with professional financial advisors and how to be a good steward of charitable donations to build an endowment.”
A native of Missouri and graduate of Missouri University of Science and Technology, Marsha’s career has been dedicated to the nonprofit sector and connecting people with their passion. In 2015 she earned the designation of Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). She has been serving as interim executive director of the Phelps Health Foundation since January 1, 2018.
The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) is an international professional organization dedicated exclusively to development professionals who encourage charity in North America’s health care organizations.
